In the 1930s, a state programme in the field of public education was being implemented in the USSR — in July 1930, universal compulsory primary education for children aged 8-10 years was introduced, and new schools were opened throughout the country. The number of teachers also grew — the profession of a teacher was considered one of the most prestigious and necessary.
PROFESSION OF A TEACHER
When Sharaf Rashidov graduated from school in 1933, he expressed a desire to continue his studies at a pedagogical college. Sharaf Rashidov himself explained his choice as a desire to raise children and foster in them love and respect for their native history, language, literature and folk traditions.
Studying at the Jizzakh Pedagogical College was as easy for Sharaf Rashidov as at school. He quickly established himself as the best student, showed leadership qualities and published poems and essays in newspapers. In his autobiography Sharaf Rashidov wrote that at the Jizzakh Pedagogical College he had been the chairman of the trade union committee, and later become the secretary of the Komsomol organisation.
