AFTER BEING WOUNDED, SHARAF RASHIDOV RETURNED FROM THE FRONT AND WORKED FOR ABOUT A YEAR AS A TEACHER AT THE JIZZAKH SCHOOL; HE WAS INVOLVED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FARKHAD DAM AND HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION.
Due to the severe injury, his left hand could no longer hold a rifle, but it still could operate the pen of a writer and journalist. He made a firm decision to participate in the construction of the Farkhad Dam and set off for a business trip.
FROM THE MEMOIRS OF HIS WIFE KHURSAN: "SHARAFA-AKA, WHO WAS A COMMUNIST PARTY ORGANISER AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE, CONSTANTLY USED THE RICH LIBRARY AT THE FARKHAD DAM. ONE DAY, WHEN HE WAS READING A BOOK IN THE LIBRARY AND WAS COMPLETELY ABSORBED IN THE READING, SOMEONE'S VOICE SUDDENLY RANG OUT: "WHO IS THIS YOUNG MAN?" SHARAF-AKA TURNED AROUND AND SAID HOW DO YOU DO. AT THAT MOMENT, HE SAW A TALL STRONG MAN SURROUNDED BY A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO, AS IF TALKING TO HIMSELF, ASKED THE QUESTION: "WHAT A NICE GUY THIS SOLDIER IS. WHO ARE YOU, SON?"
That was the first meeting between Sharaf Rashidov and Usman Yusupov, who arrived at the Farkhad Dam. Afterwards, Sharaf-aka always spoke of the meeting with excitement. Usman Yusupov asked more and more questions, after which, in conclusion, he looked at his assistant and said: "Write down Comrade Rashidov’s personal details carefully. When we arrive in Tashkent, remind me about him."
SHARAF RASHIDOV'S NEW APPOINTMENT
A year later, in July 1944, Sharaf Rashidov was appointed human resource secretary of the Samarkand Regional Committee of the Communist Party. This was another promotion based on his success: Firstly, at the time of his editorship, he showed excellent qualities as a leader who knows people and knows how to work with them; Secondly, in those years, there was an acute shortage of experienced personnel in the country's party bodies, so such figures as Rashidov — young, and even with front-line experience — were needed by the party.
