Awarding two orders of the RED STAR
For his courage in the battles near Moscow and for the liberation of Leningrad, he was awarded two Orders of the Red Star. "In the battles for the villages of Pena and Arinino, when the commander could not perform his duties, the company's political instructor Comrade Rashidov assumed command of the company, inspiring the fighters with a personal example of heroism for the successful execution of command. He was in front of his company in battle and was wounded," a document from the archive of the USSR Ministry of Defence says.
Sharaf Rashidov learned about his award, when he was being treated at a military hospital in the city of Revda, Sverdlovsk region. The wound turned out to be grave: a shell splinter came close to the heart, and after a long recovery Sharaf Rashidov was demobilised.
HE RETURNED TO HIS NATIVE JIZZAKH TO RESUME TEACHING AT SCHOOL. DUE TO THE LACK OF TEACHERS, HE COMBINED SCHOOL MANAGING AND TEACHING DUTIES AND TAUGHT SEVERAL SUBJECTS: LITERATURE, RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND HISTORY.
Rashidov remained director of the school for a little less than a year. Then, taking into account his pre-war journalistic experience, he was appointed to his previous position — editor at the Samarkand regional newspaper Lenin Yuli.
