MODERNITY (1991 - 2025). SHARAF RASHIDOV IN MODERN UZBEKISTAN

"In order to glorify the bright memory and celebrate honourably the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding statesman, famous writer Sharaf Rashidov, who headed our republic in extremely difficult and hard years, worked selflessly for its development, made a great contribution to the development of national literature and culture through his public and creative activities, I decree that: The proposal by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, the Nuroniy Foundation, the Republican Centre for Spirituality, the Mahalla Charitable Public Foundation and members of the public for broad celebration in our country of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding son of our people, Sharaf Rashidov, should be approved. The renaming of the Jizzakh district of the Jizzakh region into Sharaf Rashidov district should be considered following a resolution by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The composition of the organising committee for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sharaf Rashidov (hereinafter referred to as the Organising Committee) should be approved according to the annexe. The Organising Committee should develop a plan of events within a month to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sharaf Rashidov. This plan should provide for the following: - creation by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Finance, the State Committee for Architecture and Construction, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and the Khokimiyat of the Jizzakh region of a memorial complex and the erection of a monument in honour of Sharaf Rashidov in the Sharaf Rashidov district of the Jizzakh region; - in order to familiarise our people, and particularly the younger generation, with the life and work of the outstanding statesman and writer Sharaf Rashidov, the organisation of his memorial house-museum in the city of Jizzakh and the beautification of the territory adjacent to the museum; - preparation and publication by the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan of a collection of the writer's works; - preparation and publication of the memorial book Outstanding Son of Our People dedicated to the life and work of Sharaf Rashidov; - creation of a documentary about the life and social and creative activities of Sharaf Rashidov; - organisation of the joint academic conference "The role of Sharaf Rashidov in the history of Uzbekistan" by the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan and the Republican Centre for Spirituality; - organisation of events dedicated to the memory of Sharaf Rashidov in universities, professional colleges, secondary schools, military units, working organisations and mahallas across the country, with the participation of famous writers, scholars and artists; - holding a memorial evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sharaf Rashidov's birth in early November 2017 in the cities of Jizzakh and Tashkent. It is recommended that the National News Agency of Uzbekistan, the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan and other mass media broadly cover the events related to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sharaf Rashidov."
