EIGHTIES (1980 - 1983). POSTHUMOUS MEMORY
ON 28 DECEMBER 1983, THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF THE CPSU AND THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS OF THE USSR ISSUED A JOINT RESOLUTION "ON PERPETUATING THE MEMORY OF SHARAF RASHIDOV", WHICH WAS SIGNED BY THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF THE CPSU YU. V. ANDROPOV AND CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS OF THE USSR N. A. TIKHONOV.
The resolution ordered:
The re-naming of one of the districts of the Jizzakh region in honour of Sharaf Rashidov;
the re-naming of a school in Jizzakh, a textile factory in Tashkent, a regional library in Jizzakh, the Culture state farm, one of the central streets in Tashkent, and one of the streets in Jizzakh after Sharaf Rashidov;
the opening of the Rashidov Memorial Museum in Jizzakh;
the organisation of a room in the State Museum of the History of the Peoples of the Uzbek SSR with an exhibition dedicated to Sh. R. Rashidov;
the installation of plaques in memory of Sh. R. Rashidov on house No. 68 in G. Lopatin Street in Tashkent and on the pediment of the main building of the Samarkand State University;
the installation of a bust of Sh. R. Rashidov in Jizzakh;
the renaming of a ship under construction in honour of Sharaf Rashidov.
