THE FIRST HALF OF THE SEVENTY (1970 - 1975)

THE FIRST HALF OF THE SEVENTY (1970 - 1975). HOCKEY AND FOOTBALL IN THE SEVENTIES

1971 WAS MARKED BY AN UNUSUAL SPORTING EVENT – ICE HOCKEY CAME TO UZBEKISTAN.
The main thing here, of course, was football. In 1956, strong football clubs appeared in both republics - Alma-Ata "Kairat" and Tashkent "Pakhtakor".

HOCKEY RISE

In 1969, construction of an ice sports palace began in Tashkent, and in March 1971, the first hockey tournament for the Uzbek SSR Cup and prizes of the newspapers Pravda Vostoka and Sovetsky Uzbekistan was organised. The Binokor club team was formed in Tashkent.
BINOKOR BEGAN TO RISE IN THE MID-1970S WHEN COACH VIKTOR STOLYAROV BECAME THE HEAD. IN HIS YOUTH, HE PLAYED FOR ‘TRAKTOR CHELYABINSK’, AND LATER BECAME ITS COACH – HE LED THE TEAM TO THE TOP LEAGUE IN 1969 AND MADE IT A FINALIST IN 1973.
Under Stolyarov, Uzbek hockey players managed to win their group and in 1976 entered the First League on the tenth place. In 1978, Binokor created a real miracle for a team from Central Asia – it took fourth place behind only Salavat Yulaev from Ufa, Sokol from Kiev and Siberia from Novosibirsk.
